Andrew got a great job opportunity in 2011, but it was located in Charleston, SC.  He picked up and moved in May of that year, followed by Kathryn in July.  We bought a cute house in Mount Pleasant in a great neighborhood and close to everything.  It was a little outdated – just what we were looking for!

We did not plan on doing a whole kitchen remodel, but shortly after moving in we had a small incident involving chicken wings and hot oil.

See, I told you we needed new cabinets.

Kathryn swears it had nothing to do with her desire for a new kitchen.  Who is to argue, it worked out in the end.

We had one kitchen under our belts, so we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do.  We had no friends or family in the area to help out and needed a place to cook, so this one had to move quickly.  Again we had not learned to document our projects thoroughly, and Andrew had just gotten his first “real” camera.  Too bad he had no idea how to use it.

Functional, but nothing to write home about.

The demo went very quickly this time.  No hidden plumbing and no soffits made life very easy.  Cabinets and granite went in over the next week or so, leaving us to get our backsplash in.  We switched it up big time, Ubatuba granite this time!

We changed some light fixtures, installed our own hardware for the cabinets, and got a new fridge.  This was by far the easiest kitchen remodel we’ve done – sometimes things just work out.
